The unimaginable volumes of data expected to be generated will have profound implications on the cloud's capacity to cope and deliver data services going forward. This opens the door for edge technology. Assuming IoT growth predictions will materialize and 5G will take off, it is expected that edge is set to become the must-have technology for industries that want to compete effectively in the future.
